Linda C.'s Story
I guess most people in high school would remember me as Linda C. As we had two Linda Phillips' throughout the 4 years of school. The other one was Linda M. I remember the freshman year was really funny because we were in every class together. I guess they got wise the following years and started scheduling us into only a few classes at the same time. My favorite time in school was when I was in DECA and I only had to go half a day in my senior year as I already had enough credits to graduate. The other half of the day I got to work at the then "White Cross" drug store downtown.
I joined the Air Force in 1971 after trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I wasn't ready to go back to school again. I met my husband John while serving and we have been happily married for the past 38 years. We had a son Brian and daughter Stacey, which between the 2 of them, have given us 5 lovely grandchildren (3 girls and 2 boys). ent workforce where I stayed for 20 years and decided to just relax and let my husband work.( LOL) We have lived in different parts of the US as well as in Europe. We also lived in Hawaii for 3 years on the island of Oahu but was ready to move from there, because it is true, you do get island fever. Believe me, Waikiki beach is not as it seems in pictures. It's a lot smaller and crowded than most people think. But you can't beat the weather. We spent every Christmas day at the beach.
My experience with moving so much though, was we had the opportunity to meet a lot of different people and experience a lot of different cultures. Germany was really nice for 3 years. Had the chance to visit Paris and the ski resorts in Austria. We have made and still stay in touch with lots of friends over the past 30+ years.
Still haven't found our retirement home yet. Hopefully somewhere south. Waiting for the right opportunity to come along soon so we can make that final choice. But hopefully we'll remain fairly close to our grandchildren so we can watch them grow up.
